Frequently asked questions
How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?▼
Copy the video's link from YouTube (watch, Shorts, or youtu.be short links all work), paste it in the box above, and press Get Thumbnails. Every available size appears instantly — tap Download on the one you want and the JPG saves to your device.
What sizes can I get?▼
Up to four sizes per video: HD 1280x720 (maxresdefault), SD 640x480, HQ 480x360, and MQ 320x180. Very old or low-resolution videos sometimes don't have the HD variant — in that case we simply hide it and show the sizes that exist.
Does this work for YouTube Shorts?▼
Yes. Paste a Shorts link (youtube.com/shorts/…) and you'll get the same thumbnail sizes as a normal video.
Is it free? Do I need an account?▼
Completely free, no account, no login, no watermark. Paste a link and download — that's it.
Can I use a downloaded thumbnail on my own channel?▼
Thumbnails are the creator's work, so treat them like any other image you didn't make: use them for reference, study, or preview purposes, and get permission before reusing one publicly. Don't re-upload someone else's thumbnail as your own.
Why is there no HD option for some videos?▼
YouTube only generates the 1280x720 maxresdefault image for videos uploaded in HD. If a video was uploaded in lower resolution, the largest existing size is shown instead.
