How to download Facebook Reels and videos
On Facebook, open the reel or video, click the three-dot menu (or Share), and copy the link. It might look like facebook.com/reel/…, a facebook.com/share/… link, or an fb.watch/… short link. Paste it above and press Download to save the video in HD as an MP4.
No Facebook login is required, and it works from both the mobile app’s share sheet and the desktop site. SaveReels reads the public video and returns the highest-quality file it can.
Reels, watch links, and share URLs
Facebook uses several link formats for the same video, which is why some downloaders fail on share links. SaveReels normalises the common forms, including reel, watch, and share URLs, and tries them so a link that looks unusual still resolves to the right video.
What you can save
- Facebook Reels and standard feed videos as MP4 in HD.
- fb.watch short links and facebook.com/share/… links.
- The video thumbnail is fetched too, so you can preview before saving.
If it doesn’t work
- The video must be public. Posts limited to friends or private groups can’t be accessed.
- If a share link fails, open it once in the browser and copy the URL it lands on.
- Very new uploads can take a few seconds to become fetchable, so retry shortly.
Respect creators
Download for personal, offline use or for content you own. Don’t re-post other people’s videos as your own or use them commercially without permission. Follow Facebook’s Terms and copyright law, and credit creators when you share.

Which link formats work?

What's new
View all updates- Improved
A link that can't be downloaded now says so immediately
If a video can't be fetched, because the post was deleted, the account is private, or there's simply nothing downloadable there, the app used to spend up to half a minute checking before telling you, and it started over on every retry. It now remembers the answer for a few minutes, so trying again is instant instead of another long wait. Links that can work are unaffected: those are still checked fresh every time.
- Improved
Stories and Highlights fail far less often
Saving Instagram stories and Instagram highlights now falls back through three separate sources instead of one, so a single provider having a bad hour no longer stops you. And when something does go wrong you get a plain explanation of what to try next, instead of a raw technical error code.
- Fix
Links that used to time out now finish
Some videos took long enough to check that the app gave up on them, even though it still had time left to keep trying. It now uses the time it actually has, so links that used to end in "couldn't be downloaded" go through normally. On the day after this shipped, the platform it affected most finished 98 out of every 100 links.
