How to Download Instagram Reels on iPhone

Copy the Reel link
Open Instagram, find the Reel you want, tap the three-dot menu (⋯) at the bottom right, then tap Copy Link.

Save to Camera Roll
The file downloads via Safari. Open the Files app, find the video, tap and hold → Save to Photos.
iPhone Tips
- • Use Safari for the smoothest download experience on iPhone.
- • After downloading, find the file in Files → Downloads.
- • Long-press the video in Files and tap Save to Photos to add it to your Camera Roll.
- • Only public Reels can be downloaded — private accounts are not supported.
Saving to Camera Roll via Photos App
After the video downloads in Safari, it lands in the Files app. Open Files > Downloads, tap the video file, then tap the Share icon and choose Save to Photos. The Reel will appear in your Camera Roll / Recents album right away. You can also AirDrop or share it from there.
iOS Limitations
Instagram does not provide a direct "Save to Camera Roll" button for most Reels inside the app. You cannot long-press and save natively without using a third-party tool or web downloader.
- • Safari download manager is required for the file to be saved locally.
- • You must manually move the file from Files to Photos using the Share sheet.
- • Background downloads or auto-save to Camera Roll are blocked by iOS for privacy reasons.
- • Only public Reels work — private or age-restricted content is unavailable.

Can I download Instagram Reels on iPhone without an app?▼
Yes. Open the Reel in Instagram, tap the three-dot menu, and copy the link. Then paste it on SaveReels and tap Download. The video saves to your Files app, which you can then move to Photos.
Why can't I save Instagram videos directly from the app on iPhone?▼
Instagram does not include a native Save to Camera Roll option for most Reels. Third-party web tools like SaveReels let you download public videos by resolving the direct media URL.
