If a video can't be fetched — the post was deleted, the account is private, or there's simply nothing downloadable there — the app used to spend up to half a minute checking before telling you, and it started over on every retry. It now remembers the answer for a few minutes, so trying again is instant instead of another long wait. Links that can work are unaffected: those are still checked fresh every time.

Some videos took long enough to check that the app gave up on them — even though it still had time left to keep trying. It now uses the time it actually has, so links that used to end in "couldn't be downloaded" go through normally.
